AI Search Optimization for Businesses in Windsor

More people now ask ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews and other AI tools which local business to call. AI search optimization helps your Windsor business show up in those answers and get described well.

It builds on the local SEO you already need, so you aren’t starting over.

What Is AI Search Optimization (GEO)?

AI search optimization, also called generative engine optimization (GEO), shapes what AI tools say about your business compared to your competitors. It covers your website and everything said about you online, from reviews to news articles.

AI answers are now a big part of search. Data from Similarweb and Semrush suggests 43% to 48% of Google searches now show an AI Overview (Safari Digital, 2026).

Picture a customer asking, “Are there personal trainers for older adults near me?” GEO gives AI the clear, trusted information it needs to name you in the answer.

How AI Search Picks Which Businesses to Recommend

AI tools don’t just hand you a list of links. They do the research for the customer, then sum up what they found in a short answer.

Google calls this query fan-out. Its AI Mode breaks one question into smaller topics and runs many searches at once on the customer’s behalf (Google, 2025).

GEO FAQ

If I already pay for SEO, am I paying twice?

No. I build GEO into the same strategy as your SEO, because both serve the same business goals. Google says the same basic SEO practices apply to its AI features (Google Search Central, 2025).

Can anyone guarantee ChatGPT will recommend me?

No, and be careful of anyone who says they can. As with Google rankings, no one controls what AI tools recommend.

What GEO does is improve your odds. Pages that answer real customer problems give AI more reasons to pick you.

How will I know if a customer found me through AI?

Some of it shows up in Google Analytics 4 (GA4). I can see visits that click through from tools like ChatGPT or Perplexity, and whether those visitors book or call.

It won’t catch everything. Clicks from Google’s AI Overviews are counted with your regular Google search traffic, and many people read the AI answer and phone you directly. Asking new customers “How did you hear about us?” fills that gap.

Low AI traffic doesn’t mean GEO isn’t working, because your customers may just search somewhere else. If AI visitors turn into customers at a good rate, that’s a sign AI is recommending you.
